Reimagining an Icon: A UI/UX Facelift for the BBC Logo
Year :
2025
Industry :
News
Client :
BBC
Project Duration :
1.3 Year
My Approach:
🔹 Subtle Modernization: I focused on refining the typography within the classic blocks. The result is a cleaner, more legible mark that feels contemporary without sacrificing its timeless recognition.
🔹 Digital-First Scalability: The redesigned logo is optimized for versatility. From a massive sign on Broadcasting House to the tiny favicon in your browser tab, the design maintains its integrity and clarity, ensuring a consistent user experience across all touchpoints.
🔹 Systematic Consistency: The facelift extends to sub-brands like BBC One and BBC Sport. As you can see in the mockups, the updated logo integrates seamlessly, creating a unified and cohesive brand architecture that's crucial for user navigation and brand recall in a cluttered media environment.
🔹 Enhanced User Experience: By improving legibility and creating a more cohesive visual system, this redesign aims to strengthen the user's connection to the brand, making content easier to identify and trust.
This project was a fantastic exercise in balancing brand heritage with future-facing design principles. It underscores the idea that even the most iconic logos need to be adaptable to thrive in the ever-evolving digital world.
